"That little dinosaur" is called Mahakala omnogovae. A cousin of the infamous velociraptor, this tiny dromaeosaur measures less than two feet from nose to tail. The restoration was deveoped with Dr. Alan Turner at AMNH to be included as part of the press kit for the discovery's announcement. The animal's diminuative stature and clearly defined feathers have caused scientists to rethink their theories on the flight evolution. The illustration was later picked up by the North Carolina Museum of Natural Science for use in an exhibit on new ideas in paleontology.
