Details from Mesozoic Madagascar:
This restoration of a Triassic landscape was developed for an article that appeared in the
February 2002 issue of Scientific American. The article highlighted the unusual and diverse
fossil record that has emerged from this island nation off the east coast of Africa. Here,
early dinosaurs shared an ancient floodplain with cynodonts- strange creatures that
combine physical characteristics of both mammals and repitles.
