Undertaken as part of a Natural History Magazine article on the marble
quarries of ancient Rome.
Floorplans based on the forum's present day ruins
were used to develop this
rendition showing how it looked soon after completion. Ancient coins offer clues to
the statuary positioned high atop its marble pedestals.
For clarity, the columns of the foreground portico has been removed. The corner of the massive porch is shown in cutaway, revealing the use of weight-bearing tufo, mined from nearby hills.
